Como se dice "Spain is Dreamy"

Como se dice "Spain is Dreamy"

Cheers we made it!

This summer, we decided to trade the southern summer heat (which is no joke) for beautiful Spain. Our adventure took us from the busy streets of Barcelona to the peaceful shores of Llafranc, and every moment was filled with laughing, adventure, food, and, of course, a bit of art inspiration.

We started our journey in Barcelona, a city with much energy and creativity. From the moment we arrived, we were captivated by its charm. One of our first stops was the iconic Sagrada Familia, and let me tell you, photos don’t do it justice! The intricate details and towering spires left us all in awe. While it rained outside, we wandered through the basilica, soaking in the artistry and stained glass windows. It’s really hard to put into words.

We shared delicious tapas and drinks at cozy little restaurants tucked away in the narrow alleys. Patatas bravas, calamari and burrata salads may or may not have been eaten every day.

One of our favorite days in Barcelona was spent at Park Güell, Gaudí’s colorful wonderland. We loved the whimsical mosaics and climbing up to the terrace for a panoramic view of the city. Afterwards, we headed to the most amazing lunch at Canate which we give the highest possible rating. (Get a reservation there before arriving in Spain!)

We visited Picasso’s Museum and viewed lots of art and learning. Picasso is fascinating and I think the takeaway for me was how much his art changed over his lifetime. It gives me courage to know that change in art style is to be expected and celebrated.

After enjoying the city vibes, we rented a car and headed to the serene coastal town of Llafranc. This hidden gem in Costa Brava was a quintessential European coastal retreat. Our days in Llafranc were all about sun, sea, and relaxation. Oh - and incredible food. The water was crystal-clear, and we spent our time by the water and exploring the little shops along the coast. We may have been the only Americans in this small town. And, we loved mixing in with the European vacationers and it was a true highlight of our trip.

During the evening, we strolled along the boardwalk and chose one of the many charming little seafood restaurants. Freshly caught fish, grilled to perfection, paired with local wine – it was a meal to remember. And as the sun set over the Mediterranean on one of our last nights, we felt incredibly grateful to experience this country in this way.

Our trip to Barcelona and Llafranc was the perfect blend of adventure and relaxation. We returned home with hearts full of memories of beautiful Spain.
